Breast Lift

Breasts can sag after considerable weight loss resulting from dieting or pregnancies. Often the breasts also shrink in size. The operation helps to recontour the breasts and lift the nipples. In some cases breast implants are also necessary in order to restore volume.
The Operation
Depending upon the severity of the sagging, either a classic three scar breast lift operation is performed or just one incision is utilized around the areola (pigmented skin surrounding the nipple). It is usually performed in the office operating facility under general anesthesia but in some cases local anesthesia is sufficient.
After Breast Lift Surgery
A bra is worn for several weeks. Patients may return to work in some cases in just a few days after breast lift surgery. Strenuous activity is highly discouraged for 4-6 weeks.
