Protruding ears can be corrected by reshaping and resetting them to a normal position. It is recommended that protruding ears be repaired by about 5-6 years of age by which time the ears have reached near total development. This can avoid the relentless teasing by other children.
The Ear Surgery (Otoplasty) Procedure
Ear surgery (Otoplasty) can be performed under local anesthesia in adults, but requires sedation in children. The incision lies in the back of the ear, to avoid detection. A bandage is worn for about 5 days, and then you will be asked to wear a headband at night. Stitches are removed 10 to 14 days after the procedure.

Post-Operative Course
A bandage is worn for about 5 days after which a light compression garment may be worn at night for a short while. Stitches are removed at 10 to 14 days postoperatively.
