The Cool Glide® Laser System can help make spider veins disappear on the face and legs where they are most commonly found. They can be used on men and women of all skin colors.
How does it work?
Pulses of light energy cause coagulation of the capillaries and thin blood vessels which are then destroyed and eventually reabsorbed by the body. Blood flow will then be redirected to deeper vessels below the skin surface.
What types of veins are best treated?
Thin red blood vessels on the face as well as red and thin blue veins of the legs are best treated. Knotty varicose veins are not amenable to this treatment.
How does the laser treatment compare to sclerotherapy?
Patients typically prefer laser treatment because they are don't require needle injections, are less painful and treatment sessions are much quicker.
How many treatments are needed?
Typically 1- 2 treatments are sufficient. But they do vary depending on the number, color and size of the blood vessels.
What is the after-treatment course?
Typically there may be bruising or redness which disappears rather quickly. With larger veins there may be some dark pigment which may persist for a few weeks or months. For larger veins the wearing of a support hose may be advised.
