The Operation
Prior to surgery, the face is prepared with Retin-A and in some cases with bleaching agents. Depending of the extent of the resurfacing and/or desire of the patient, the laser treatment may be performed under local or general anesthesia. There are no incisions to be made. The laser basically resurfaces the face by removing unwanted layers and then allowing for new skin regeneration.
Post-Operative Course
Although post-operative treatments vary form office to office, we use a closed technique whereby special taping is applied to the resurfaced areas for about 5 days, which are changed, usually, twice. This greatly minimizes pain, as well as oozing. Special gels and creams are commenced after that time. Cover-up can usually be applied after one week.
